Saltire Scholars Join the Team

Two interns have joined the Aquascot team as part of Entrepreneurial Scotland's Saltire Scholars programme.

This highly respected and successful programme takes penultimate year, high potential undergraduate students at Scottish universities and pairs them with 'host' businesses, and we're delighted to welcome Lulu Olukoko and Craig Erskine to Aquascot for their 10-week placements.

This is the first time we've welcomed Saltire Scholars to the business, and is another great milestone as we look to encourage more and more development of new talent for Aquascot, both within the business and externally.

While we're keen to ensure they experience the breadth of the business, their roles will have specific areas of focus — both of which are very important to Aquascot's ongoing continuous improvement in terms of sustainability and process. We're hugely looking forward to benefitting from their skills, enthusiasm and fresh perspective.

Lulu — a student in her penultimate year of Chemical Engineering at Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh — will be working on a project within the Plastic and Recycling Workstream, as part of the established Environmental and Sustainability Focus Group. Her main focus will be on a large mapping exercise on our materials usage (particularly single use plastics) and how we can reduce replace or reuse materials.

Craig — who recently completed his final year of Mechanical Engineering at Heriot-Watt — will join the Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementation team and will be a key player in supporting an upcoming key phase of a MES system project.
